SYNTHESIS OF D- AND L- erythro -THIOGLUCOCEREBROSIDES

Abstract: D- and L-erythro-1-β-D-glucopyranosyl-2-stearoyl-1-deoxy-1-thiosphinganmes have been synthesized using racemic cis-4-iodomethyl-5-pentadecyl-2-phenyl-Δ²-oxazoline and tetraacetyl-β-D-thioglucose as starting compounds. The optically active diastereoisomers were separated by column liquid chromathography.
