A simple method for the synthesis of glycosyl diglycerides

Abstract: A one-step method for preparation of glycosyl glycerols, important intermediates in the synthesis of glycosyl diglycerides, is described. The method is based on glyco-sylation of sugar peracetates with isopropylidene-rac-glycerol in the presence of Lewis acids. Syntheses of some dipalmitoyl-gliceryl mono- and diglycosides are described.
