Abstract: The exopolysaccharide of Prosthecomicrobium pneumaticum VKM B-1389 has been investigated by 13C NMR spectroscopy of the native polymer end its modification product. The polysaccharide is (αl–3)-D-galactan with varying ratio of 4,6-pyruvate ketal and O-acetyl groups.
