Cloning and expression of a gene coding for the Escherichia coli thermostable enterotoxin

Abstract: Gene estA coding for thermostable enterotoxin of Escherishia coli has been cloned. It is shown that in the E. coli strain SA162 this gene is located on the chromosome. Using polymerase chain reaction a site-directed mutagenesis of the cloned gene has been carried out, resulted in a recombinant strain – producer of the thermostable enterotoxin.
